Single-Shot Commands Window

The Single-Shot Commands window (Fig. 60) can be opened by clicking the View|Single-Shot Commands menu item. The window contains a group of specialized Homer commands, most of which trigger the execution of a single Measure-Tune-Send sequence (or its part); hence the adjective Single-Shot.

Fig. 60.  Single-Shot Commands window.

The window is meant chiefly as an aid in developing user’s own Homer control programs.

Please refer to the Homer Communication Protocol, section Single-Shot Commands, where the commands and the associated quantities are described in detail.

Homer measurement results (HMR) received as a response to measurement commands are displayed in Results windows. Motor positions and their status are shown in the TUNER group of the window but also in the Tuner View window.

The TIMEOUTS group is used to query and display HomSoft timeouts in milliseconds when waiting for the analyzer to complete a measurement (Homer), and for the tuner to complete motors movement (Motors).

The status bar at the bottom of the window shows the sequential number and the status of the most recent attempted command.

Notes:

  • If used in Rectified and Pulsed modes of sampling, single-shot commands never send individual samples, only averaged results, regardless of your setting of the Send Samples checkbox setting in the Homer Sampling Setup window (or the state of the corresponding toolbar button sbSamples ).

  • Expressions in [square brackets] in the following related subtopics refer to the names of corresponding commands in the Homer Communication Protocol, where they are described in more detail.

  • With a few exceptions, the commands described below will not work in the HoSim simulation version of HomSoft.

HOMER Group

Run-Stop

If the Homer is idle, clicking the  Run-Stop  button is equivalent to setting the Running and Sending flags to TRUE (see below). This is also similar to clicking the Homer|Run-Pause Homer menu item (or the equivalent toolbar button) except that clicking the  Run-Stop  button does not initiate the PC monitoring of the Homer.

If the Homer is running, clicking the  Run-Stop button is equivalent to clicking the Homer|Stop Homer menu item or the equivalent toolbar button (the Homer goes idle). The action is also equivalent to setting the Running flag to FALSE.

Measure

Clicking the  Measure  button commands the Homer to make a single measurement and send the Measurement Data Object (MDO). [Meas]

Fetch

Clicking the  Fetch  button commands the Homer to send the latest available MDO ( but no measurement is carried out). [FetchLast]

Clr Fifo

Clicking the  Clr Fifo  button commands the Homer to clear its internal message buffer. As a result, the next incoming command will become the first in the queue. [ClrFifo]

Running

The Running checkbox sets/clears the Homer internal Running flag. If Running = TRUE, the Homer repeats the Measure-Tune-Send sequence (or its applicable part) periodically. If Running = FALSE, the Homer is idle, only waiting for commands.

Sending

The Sending checkbox sets/clears the Homer internal Sending flag. If Sending = TRUE and Running = TRUE, the Homer sends the data periodically, subject to the conditions defined in the TX Timing window. If Sending = FALSE, the Homer will not transmit results, even when running and tuning.

Note that the Running and Sending states only affect periodic (continuous) measurement, not the single-shot commands.

The power-up value of the Running and Sending flags is defined by the following line in the internal Hom.cfg configuration file:

AUTORUN=3            ;AutoStart after power-up: Run (b0=1), Send (b1=1)

Set

Click the  Set  button to apply the settings of the Running and Sending checkboxes in the Homer. You can verify the actual Homer settings by changing the checkboxes and clicking Query.

Query

Click the  Query  button to read from the Homer the actual settings of the Running and Sending flags.

TUNER Group

The bottom two lines of the TUNER group represent the state of the motors (tuning stubs). The display fields of this group show:

  • Stub positions in steps, millimeters or inches. To change the unit, click the yellow unit label.

  • Motor Status Bytes MS1 and MS2 (as Stat 1 and Stat 2, respectively).

Autotune

The Autotune checkbox activates/deactivates continuous autotuning (i.e., the Homer internal Autotune flag).

Set

Click the  Set  button to apply the setting of the Autotune checkbox to the Homer unit. You can verify the actual Homer setting by changing the checkbox setting and clicking  Query .

Query

Click the  Query  button to read from the Homer the actual setting of its Autotune flag.

Read Stubs

The command reads the actual stub (motor) positions and the status (Stat 1 and Stat 2).

MeaTun

The Homer makes a single measurement. If successful, it computes new tuning stub positions and moves the motors to these positions. The Homer then sends the measurement results and the current positions, which are then displayed. Please note that the measurement results correspond to tuning stubs in their previous positions. [MeaTun]

MeaTunMea

The Homer makes a single measurement. If successful, it computes new tuning stub positions and moves the motors to these positions. Following this, the Homer makes a new measurement and sends these new results and the current positions, which are then displayed. The measurement results now correspond to tuning stubs in their current positions. [MeaTunMea]

Refresh

All numeric displays, including the Results windows, will be updated to the latest available results (this includes measurement data, not only stub positions).
